"Meditation and Depression facing
Compassion and Mindfulness"

There's a vital lesson to be learned about both meditation and depression here.

From reviewing the cause of stress until finally zooming all the way in to the withdrawn butler/messenger—proteins in the severely depressed brain, we should now make a conclusion once and for all...

Depression is NOT a Disease!

Depression is a natural result of long-term negative emotions and stress overload.

Depression is emotional and social detachment, all happening in synchrony (feedback/adaptation).

Speaking from my physical therapist perspective, a runner may rupture his Achilles tendon from 30 years of running.

Gradually... Fraying and overloading the muscle fibers due to the incessant stress of foot pounding the pavement and not enough rest and recovery in between running sessions...

Finally, as the tendon's coping threshold is crossed, it snaps and ruptures.

In either case, depression or tendon rupture, it's still a matter of stress and the ability to adapt to that stress. Rest and recovery are benefits of meditation - relax, rest and recover, and your mind, brain, and body become more capable and stress-resistant.

Further, mindful meditation means detached awareness. Mindfulness meditation proves to be effective treatment for (not against) depression.

This comes as no surprise...

When you practice mindfulness meditation, you temporarily detach from your goals and aspirations and get in touch with yourself and who you are, detached from everything you have and hope for.

It is relaxing, connecting, and unifying.

Depression - detachment and withdrawal - is a time to re-evaluate and re-connect with yourself and what really matters:

Your life, self-love, and the people who love you.

Attaching too much importance to any object or goal in isolation may weigh you down and separate you from yourself and your human, interconnected nature. Especially when that goal is attached to yourself in a negative state of mind.

Mindful Meditation For Depression

Compassion is also detachment. But it is detachment from distress; connecting and unifying, not withdrawing and isolating because compassion is attachment to other people's goals and states of mind.

Mindful compassion is the smartest awareness...

Compassion meditation and depression go hand in hand because compassion holds hands with everyone, and mindfulness judges no one. So you see, it is the smartest way to meditate and live your life. And this Web site is all about it.
