The Omkara -- Omkar Mantra

While I recently reviewed the Omkara, or omkar mantra, I was particularly intrigued by this:

"Out of Supreme silence emanated the Nada Brahman, the sound aspect and expression of God. That sound was Omkara. Out of the Primeval Sound became manifest all creation..."

"...Supreme silence... Primeval Sound..." Fascinating.

The Omkara carries the essence of primordial sound – Om or AUM. Om is the most important and sacred word for Hindus. It is also called Pranava, which means "That which runs through Prana."

Prana means life/breath -- "life in general - the life force sustaining the body - and the breath as an external manifestation of life."

OM is the sound of the breath vibrating in the Universe and within us.

Many mantras are based on Om, such as Om Rama, Om Bhur Bhuvaha Svaha, and Om Mani Padme Hum. With the help from H.H. the Dalai Lama, let us now review the path to Buddhahood and the vast meaning of Om mani padme hum.
