Powerful Prayer Meditation

Prayer meditation can be very effective and helpful to your practice. It is brief, flexible, emotional, and can be done separately as well as fitted into any meditation technique.

Yes, I've reviewed scientific studies and there's no evidence that a prayer can help or in any way directly influence whoever is being prayed for.

However this does not matter because you are ultimately praying for yourself. Perhaps it sounds selfish, but it's not.

It is smart. Let me explain...

Prayer meditation contains the essence of compassion meditation, and it makes you feel good. Firstly, you're showing love and compassion for yourself.

In turn, as you interact with those you pray for, including yourself (your mind/brain interacts) your prayer influences you and thus indirectly those you pray for and interact with.

This is the most natural thing in the world and it's called feedback, which is the basis of adaptation and evolution (long-term adaptation).

Sometimes we must look beyond the scientific evidence and fragments of truth (which, I must admit, are easy to manipulate), and gain a larger perspective. A study also reflects the designers of that study, not necessarily reality. But this is another discussion.

So how do meditation and prayer go together?

First, this is our Disclaimer.

And this is how I advice you to do your prayer meditation:

Pray first, then meditate. This way you bring love and compassion into meditation. And if you don't have time to meditate afterward, just pray. Sometimes I'll do a 2-3 minute prayer meditation by itself.

A few tips...

Your meditation prayer should...

  1. Truly wish for the well-being of your family (love and compassion for others).
  2. Truly wish for the well-being of yourself (love and compassion for yourself).

That's it. Make it a positive feedback cycle between others and yourself -- learn more from the meaning of compassion.

But you must truly mean it in order to feel it! I'm not yelling but I cannot stress this enough. Think it, say it, do it, feel it. You reap what you sow while you're sowing it.

And you choose your seeds.

In the beginning your meditation prayer may feel mechanic and awkward, but this passes as you start to feel it. So, just do it. Soon you will start to believe it, then you will feel it and truly mean it...

Proper meditation posture helps (Kneeling position - prayer)

This is an example:

"I love my family. I wish you the best. I love you so much. I will show you love and compassion... I will show love and compassion for myself. I love myself...

We are all one love. I love you so much. I wish you all the very best. I will treat you with love and compassion. I will do my best because I love my family. Thank you for loving me. There's so much love. I love you so much."

Also, you can try this compassion meditation with prayer.
