Vipassana Meditation: Mindful Insight
''For Business, Sports, And Pleasure...''

Vipassana meditation is also known as insight meditation. Vipassana means to see things as they really are, and it's one of India's oldest meditation methods.

Gotama Buddha (re)discovered the method and the insight it's based upon more than 2,500 years ago. He taught it to his followers, and the method has been passed down through an unbroken chain of teachers.

Vipassana aims for the cessation of suffering through eliminating mental impurities, thus attaining the highest happiness – liberation. Insight meditation focuses on non-judgmental self-observation, traditionally centering on the interconnection between mind and body through breath awareness.

Vipassana meditation is a method most closely related to pure mindfulness meditation.

Today the method is taught at numerous locations around the world as 10-day retreats. In order to participate at one of these free retreats you must apply through the official website (dhamma.org).

The 10-day course is non-sectarian and led by instructors who have completed the training. The training adheres to the teachings of S. N. Goenka.

Vipassana For Business Executives

In the United States, in April, 2002, Mr. Goenka conducted the first 10-day course designed for business executives and government officials. Subsequent courses are now being held at various locations around the world.

Over the last decade, Vipassana meditation has gained a large interest within the upper echelons of business in India.

It has proven very useful in enabling business people to deal with the stresses inherent in everyday commerce. Vipassana also helps them to integrate co-operative values into their daily business practices. A mindful, intelligent attitude is a potent recipe for successful business practice.

Top athletes also have to master mindfulness. It's ultimately about adaptation - being able to consistently tune in to change in order to meet the ever-changing demands.

That's life in a nutshell, whatever your preferred niche may be.
